To paraphrase the hit early 2000s rock band Staind:
And it's been awhile
Since I could hold my keyboard up high
And it's been awhile
Since I last mailed you
And it's been awhile
Since I could write two words again
And it's been awhile
Since I could mail you
It has been a while. And I am sorry for that. It’s not you, it’s me. We are rocking and rolling over at Zus Health (we are still hiring, for those interested!) and that has this author pretty swamped with lots of fun missions to be completed and products to be built. Beyond that, I’ve chosen a few very meaty fun topics for the next big post, so it’s just taking a while - hoping to get that out in the next month or so.
In the interim, here’s some digital health and health policy content that I’ve had as potential future topics, but decided to recently just do as long threads (Twitter’s blatant attempts to force conversion to Revue be damned).
One HIE to rule them all
Ciitizen (personal health record that has pivoted to offering HIE infrastructure) released news of how they’re enabling consumer access to HIE data in light of recent regulation. It’s a smart move by them in general (inserting themselves as gatekeepers and uniquely positioned as a PHR with that class of data holders), but beyond that, it highlights some weird inconsistencies people have about HIEs, where we celebrate these mid-level aggregate hubs (a state HIE), but are super scared/wary of one giant aggregate hub (a national HIE).
Blockchain
Oof, yeah, I know, crypto. Bear with me here, this is just the why blockchain might be square peg / round hole for our industry. I’d love to hear from those that have strong bull takes, though.
Pharmacies and e-prescribing
Check this one out for some takes on the switch from paper prescriptions to e-prescribing, the incumbent digital players, new age pharmacies, and obviously Truepill.
